Why do tech journalists care about Apple’s share price???

It seems that half of the Mac technology podcasts spend most of their time talking about analysts’ expectations for Apple’s stock price. Analysts from Wallstreet firms are quoted about how each new product will increase/decrease sales of Apple’s products and what this is going to do to the stock price.

At first I thought this was a way to get a non technical perpective on the Apple products. However it has gotten to the point that the analysts predictions are the news rather than a reflection of the news. Hearing that some analysts think that bootcamp will make the sales of Mac hardware go up while others think that it won’t do anything isn’t news expect for people who day trade Apple stock. I don’t care and I have started to stop listening to podcasts that waffle on about Apple’s share price. Maybe it is just a matter that there isn’t that much tech news in the Apple world that happens on a daily or weekly basis.

I have to say though that I always love hearing about Gene Munster of Piper Jaffray, for no reason other than that has to be one of the coolest names.
